Your machine, as an MCP server

One command turns any folder into an MCP server. Give Claude/Cursor or Custom agent, and any AI client real access to your files, terminal, and system.

$ npm install -g openlol Copied!
See how it works

Three steps. Zero config.

Install globally, point it at a folder, paste the URL into your AI. That's it.

01

Install

One npm command installs the openlol CLI globally on your machine. Works on macOS, Linux, and Windows.

$ npm install -g openlol
02

Run

Point it at any folder. openlol starts a local MCP server with a unique session token for secure access.

$ openlol -f ~/projects/my-app
03

Connect

Paste the MCP URL into Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible AI client. The AI now has access to your project.

http://localhost:3333/mcp?token=...

12 tools your AI can call

Every tool is scoped to the folder you chose — the AI can't escape the sandbox.

12 tools

execute_command

Run any shell command in the scoped working directory. Build, test, lint, deploy — whatever you need.

read_file

Read the full text content of any file in the project folder.

write_file

Create or overwrite files. Auto-creates parent directories as needed.

append_file

Append content to the end of an existing file or create it if missing.

delete_file

Delete files or directories recursively within the scoped folder.

list_directory

List all files and subdirectories at any path in the project.

create_directory

Create directories with automatic parent creation (mkdir -p style).

move_file

Move or rename files and directories within the project scope.

file_exists

Check whether a file or directory exists before reading or writing.

get_system_info

OS, architecture, memory usage, uptime, and Node.js version at a glance.

get_disk_usage

Disk storage usage for all mounted drives and partitions.

get_environment_variables

List env vars with optional substring filtering. Debug configs instantly.

What people actually do with it

openlol bridges the gap between AI chat windows and your actual dev environment.

Development

AI-Powered Code Review

Point openlol at a project folder and ask Claude to review your code. It reads files, understands structure, and gives context-aware feedback — no copy-pasting needed.

You say
"Review the auth middleware in src/middleware/auth.ts and check for security issues"
→ read_file · list_directory · read_file
Automation

Project Scaffolding

Describe the project you want and let the AI build the entire file structure, configs, and boilerplate. It creates directories, writes files, and runs setup commands.

You say
"Set up a new Express + TypeScript API with JWT auth, Prisma, and Docker"
→ create_directory · write_file ×8 · execute_command
DevOps

System Diagnostics

Ask the AI to check your system health — disk space, memory, running processes, env vars. Useful for debugging deployment issues on remote machines.

You say
"Check disk space, memory usage, and if the Node process on port 3000 is running"
→ get_disk_usage · get_system_info · execute_command
Data

Log Analysis & Debugging

Point it at your logs directory and ask the AI to find errors, patterns, or anomalies. It can read, grep, and parse log files to pinpoint issues.

You say
"Find all 500 errors in the last 24 hours of logs and group them by endpoint"
→ list_directory · execute_command · read_file
Development

Refactoring & Migration

Let the AI read your codebase, understand patterns, and apply changes across multiple files. Rename variables, update imports, migrate APIs — hands-free.

You say
"Migrate all API routes from Express callbacks to async/await and add error handling"
→ list_directory · read_file ×6 · write_file ×6
Automation

Build & Test Automation

Ask the AI to run your test suite, read the output, fix failing tests, and re-run until everything passes. Full loop, no context switching.

You say
"Run the tests, fix any failures, and make sure the build passes clean"
→ execute_command · read_file · write_file · execute_command

How the pieces fit together

openlol runs a local HTTP server that speaks the Model Context Protocol.

Scoped to chosen folder

Up and running in minutes seconds

Works with Claude, Cursor, and any MCP-compatible client.

.cursor/mcp.json
// Cursor config — paste and go
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "openlol": {
      "url": "http://localhost:3333/mcp?token=YOUR_TOKEN",
      "transport": "http"
    }
  }
}

Scoped & Secure

Every session gets a unique UUIDv4 token. Tools are sandboxed to the folder you choose.

Zero Config

No setup files, no environment variables, no cloud accounts. Install and run.

Dual Transport

Streamable HTTP (modern) and SSE (legacy) endpoints. Works with every MCP client.

Works Everywhere

macOS, Linux, Windows. Node.js 18+ is the only requirement.
